The Guidance for the Management of Outdoor Learning, Off-site visits and Learning Outside the Classroom published by the Outdoor Education Advisers’ Panel aims to make high quality outdoor education, offsite activities and adventurous activities easier to plan, manage and deliver.
Adopting National Guidance removes the need for each employer or establishment to write and maintain their own comprehensive guidance and gives users easy access to regularly updated and nationally recognised guidance.
National Guidance is continually improved and updated to reflect the developing understanding of current practice. It is therefore an online resource and is not intended to be printed as a static ‘manual’.
The Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge is an easily recognisable and trusted national award for all types of providers of Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) throughout the UK. It covers both learning provision and safety.
OEAP endorses the Quality Badge and works closely with the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, which manages the scheme. It recommends that schools and other establishments should look for the Quality Badge when selecting a provider.
The Quality Badge has been designed to reduce the ‘red tape’ involved in planning educational visits by providing a single accreditation demonstrating that a provider meets national standards. OEAP therefore requests its members to advise schools and other establishments that it is unnecessary to require providers to supply information which has already been assessed by the Quality Badge accreditation process.
How can I find a Quality Badge holder, or check that a provider holds a Quality Badge?
